Itinerary
Morning: Classical Athens
- Pick-up from the cruise terminal or hotel
- Visit to the Acropolis* and its key monuments, including the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion with its Caryatids
- Panoramic views from the Acropolis over Athens, including the Ancient Agora area, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the Theatre of Dionysus
- Orientation to classical Athenian history and architecture
Midday: City Highlights
- Scenic drive through central Athens, including Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro)
- Short stop at Syntagma Square to observe the Changing of the Guard and see the House of Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
- Passing by the Athenian Trilogy (National Library, University, Academy) and the neoclassical buildings along Vasilissis Sofias Avenue
- Drive up to Lycabettus Hill for panoramic city views and photography
Afternoon: Athenian Riviera & Cape Sounion
- Coastal drive along the Athenian Riviera with views of the Saronic Gulf
- Stop at Lake Vouliagmeni to admire the idyllic lake scenery and learn about the area’s natural landscape as its waters attract several swimmers all year round due to its healing properties.
- Visit to Cape Sounio and the Temple of Poseidon, dramatically set above the Aegean Sea
